"Evoke presence through absence"
"... I think of dance and performance not as primarily a visual art form. Other senses are being engaged, such as listening, feeling, memory and imagination."
"The space is empty. There are no things. Through spoken words and movements in space a world becomes visible."
"Making things appear."
"I like to compose without creating unity. To let materials work upon eachother, complete eachother."
"... then feel either spooked or comforted by the feeling of antoher presence, another room in your room."
I remember a big space
The closest I had gotten to a horizon in a while
Two long, wide lanes of asphalt on either side of a grassfield
There were white stripes on the lane to the right, I don“t remember any on the lane to the left
I remember big containers of trash to the left
I remember it took 30 minutes to walk one lane, my friend remembers it took 45, which is weird because I walk quite slow
There were smaller paths on the grassfield
I remember running on those paths like the free leashed dogs
Further right than the right lane were more fields: grass and a baseball field
A fence surrounded the entire space, which closed as it got dark. I remember almost getting stuck in there once. My friend does not remember it like that
I remember a football field to the left of the left lane, my friend remembers playing there
My friend remembers people having picknick in the upper left corner of the space on hot summer days
I remember hot summer days
I remember an abandoned building to the left of the left lane
I remember a lot of trees to the left of the left lane
I remember people flying paper dragons
I remember seeing people skating on rollerblades wearing shorts
I remember four walls created of houses
I remember a rectangular shape
Around the edges of this space, I remember small paths of asphalt, my friend remembers them of cobblestone
To the left, kids could play in a small playground, I remember a sandbox and something to climb on, I remember it was red
To the right, my friend and I remember the recycling bins, which were surrounded by bushes
I remember the recycling bins had different colours, I used the cone blue one most
To the right, but to the left of the bins, was another playground. I remember a big swing or a big thing to climb on
In the middle of the left and right was a green area, with grass and quite many tall trees. I can not remember which is taller, the houses or the trees
I remember one special tree, perhaps of another kind than the rest. Its branches reached quite low and wide. I remember it felt like a hug to stand underneath it.
My friend remembers it as dark
I remember two trees were standing closer to each other than any of the other trees. So close I could lean into one, then push myself and fall into the other one without moving my feet. A neighbour told me I was ruining the grass by doing that; they wanted me to sow new grass when spring came. I remember I never did
I REMEMBER
